Microblading in Columbus, OH

For those looking to improve the look and fullness of their eyebrows, the experienced team at Downtown Dermatology offers microblading to patients in Columbus, Ohio and surrounding areas.

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a procedure that uses semi-permanent makeup to create fuller, natural looking eyebrows. Microblading is similar to tattooing, though unlike traditional tattooing, microblading aestheticians use a handheld microblade to apply each hair stroke, blending the ink with the patients existing eyebrow hair so that it is unnoticeable.

What are the Benefits of Microblading?

Microblading is perfect for those looking to define, darken, or reshape their eyebrows. Women who have overplucked and cannot regrow hair can benefit from microblading to achieve the look they want. For those with thin eyebrows, microblading can help add volume and shape. Microblading achieves a very natural look since the hair strokes are blended into the patients existing hair.

How Long Does Microblading Last?

The fine lines created by microblading typically fade and lighten over time. For most patients, the lines will fade over one to three years. Since microblading uses less ink than a traditional tattoo, the ink is not as permanent. Light and dark skin types will also retain the pigment in different ways. Other factors like sun exposure, medications, and facial products used also impact the lifespan of the ink. It is common for patients to get yearly touch ups to maintain their desired look.

What to Expect During Microblading Treatment

Microblading at Downtown Dermatology is performed here in our office in Columbus. Kourtney Wills, the aesthetician, will apply a topical anesthetic to numb the eyebrow area. The procedure will take anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes. Microblading typically takes two appointments. The second appointment is shorter and performed at least 30 days after the initial session. In this second session, the aesthetician can assess how your skin has received the ink and adjust and touch up areas that need more attention. Typical recovery times are four to six weeks, depending on your body regeneration and age.
